ROWLAND WATER DISTRICT RELEASES DETAILS OF ANNUAL FINANCIAL AUDIT
Independent Review Shows Status of District Operations Amid Covid-Era Challenges

March 10, 2021 – At its regular monthly board meeting March 9th, the Rowland Water District Board of Directors approved its Financial Audit Report for fiscal year 2019/2020. The Murrieta-based accounting firm Nigro & Nigro PC conducted the audit, which is required annually by state law to ensure that proper accounting procedures are followed by public agencies.

“Our role as stewards of District finances is one of our most critical. We are committed to financial accountability and full disclosure, and appreciate the opportunity to share the information with our ratepayers,” says Rowland Water District General Manager Tom Coleman. “While this year has seen unprecedented challenges in light of COVID-19, we are confident that this recent audit will show that we are in a healthy and robust financial position.”

As a California Special District, Rowland Water is required by law to prepare annual financial reports, reviewed by an independent auditor, that follow specific guidelines set forth by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board. The District is responsible for the accuracy of the data included within this Report, as well as the completeness and fairness of its presentation and inclusion of all necessary disclosures. The report is designed to enhance the public’s understanding of the District’s financial position and activities.

The financial audit examined financial activity during the fiscal year that ended on June 30, 2020, and found no evidence of noncompliance or deficiencies in internal operating control on the part of the District.
