ROWLAND WATER DISTRICT APPOINTS TRIO OF BOARD MEMBERS TO NEW TERMS

Appointees Sworn in, Board Officers Chosen

December 17, 2018 – At its December 11th board meeting, three current members of Rowland Water District’s Board of Directors were sworn in to serve additional terms. Additionally, the Board appointed Director Robert W. Lewis to serve as President, with Director Teresa Rios serving as Vice President.

The appointments are as follows:
John E. Bellah: Director, Division 3 (Current Term: 12/2018 – 12/2022)
Robert W. Lewis: Director, Division 4 (Current Term: 12/2018 – 12/2022)
Szu Pei Lu-Yang: Director, Division 5 (Current Term: 12/2018 – 12/2022)

“The District was advised that only three individuals had filed a declaration of candidacy for these positions, and in lieu of a special election, we moved to appoint these individuals to the respective offices they were seeking, which are also offices they currently hold,” explains Tom Coleman, General Manager for Rowland Water District. “These three outstanding community leaders bring a wealth of experience to roles they have filled for some time now, and we are very fortunate that they were interested in continuing such an impressive legacy of service to our District and its customers.”

A former business executive, Director Bellah has lived in the San Gabriel Valley for more than 60 years and currently represents the District on the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) and the Rowland Heights Community Coordinating Council.

Director Lewis is a Veteran of the U.S. Army and subsequently worked as a field engineer. He most recently served as Vice President of the Rowland Water District Board of Directors and also serves as a Commissioner on the Puente Basin Water Agency and represents the District on the Association of California Water Agencies/Joint Powers Insurance Authority (ACWA/JPIA) and the Regional Chamber of Commerce of San Gabriel Valley, Government Affairs Committee.

Director Lu-Yang is currently practicing law in Glendale in the areas of civil litigation and general liability and was most recently the President of the Rowland Water District Board of Directors.  She is the current President of the Rowland Unified School District For Us Foundation and serves on the Rotary Board of Directors.  Director Lu-Yang also represents the District on the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Advisory Council and the Rowland Heights Community Coordinating Council.

Bellah, Lewis, and Lu-Yang’s terms will end in December of 2022.
