Water Is Life Art Contest Winners Announced
15 students advance to the Southern California Regional Contest

Rowland Water District (RWD) received over 500 student submissions in this year’s Water is Life Poster Contest, which aims to raise awareness of the value of water. The students were given the proper paper and two months to complete the posters before they were judged by a renowned committee.

The annual contest drew entries from 6 schools within RWD’s service area. From the submissions, which were submitted by 29 classrooms, the District’s committee judged and selected the top three winners in the K-3 category, 4-6 category and the high school level. The winners were announced at their schools with a certificate and a gift card and their art is now featured on our website.

“We received some of the best posters in years from all of the grade levels,” said Tom Coleman, Rowland Water District General Manager. “The artistic skill set the students display nowadays is incredible, and I see a bright future for our community.”

MWD will select 36 entries from the regional competition to be included in their Water Is Life calendar, which is distributed to schools and the community. The artwork also will be featured in a traveling art show and on MWD outreach materials, and will appear on MWD’s website for a week. MWD will notify the winners by early December.
