For HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS-GRADES 9-12 ONLY

Solar Cup is a FREE high school education program for students to build and race solar powered boats. Rowland Water District (RWD) in partnership with Three Valleys Water District (TVMWD) and The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) sponsor teams through the seven-month program.

RWD/TVMWD allots funding for this program in order for the teams to purchase the items needed to get the boats ready for the three-day completion held in May at Lake Skinner in Temecula. The students will utilize engineering, mathematical and mechanical skills to build the boat to race in both an endurance race as well as a 200 meter sprint race. The collaborative, hands-on experience is extremely beneficial to the students and the Solar Cup completion is the largest solar powered completion in the country.
