District Parade Float Encourages Attendees to ‘Fall in Love with Our Water Quality’

September 12, 2019 – Rowland Water District is proud to sponsor the 47th annual Buckboard Days Parade, taking place on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in Rowland Heights. This year’s parade kicks off at 9:00 am, with local veterinarian Dr. Samir Sargious (Dr. Sam) serving as Grand Marshal. This outstanding community event brings together local businesses, floats, classic cars, various youth groups, bands, equestrian units, and more. The theme of this year’s celebration is “Fall in Love With Rowland Heights.”

“Buckboard Days is an immensely popular event that focuses on community success stories and a rich local history,” says Brittnie Van De Car, Public Affairs Representative for Rowland Water District and a Parade Committee member. “The ‘Fall In Love’ theme gives us a perfect opportunity to connect with customers on something as important as the quality of their drinking water. We’re encouraging our customers to just turn on their tap and try it for themselves!”

The Buckboard Days event timeline is as follows:
*7 am: Pancake breakfast at Bell Memorial Church
*7:30 am: Street lineup starts
*9 am: Parade (ends at approximately 11 am)
*10:30 am-2 pm (approximately): Festival and awards at Rowland Park – 1500 Banida Avenue, Rowland Heights

The name Buckboard Days is a tribute to the progress that has taken place since the first settlers arrived in the area now known as Rowland Heights. This annual celebration began in 1970 as a three-day festival fundraiser for the Rowland Heights Junior Women’s Club and Rowland Heights Woman’s Clubs Federated. Long-time area residents have traditionally been honored and invited to participate in the festivities, and community youth groups and civic organizations have been instrumental in making the event a success, year after year.
