Positive Audit Reflects District’s Values of Communication and Accountability

Rowland Water District (RWD) recently completed the review of its annual audit, a procedure required by state law for public agencies. The District proudly announced high marks for a consecutive period. With the California drought in its fifth year, this is an especially significant accomplishment that reiterates RWD’s transparency and responsibility.

The audit was performed by accounting firm White, Nelson, Diehl, Evans, LLP, and reported on financial activity throughout the fiscal year, ending on June 30, 2015. The process assessed the District’s accounting policies, the rationality behind significant accounting estimates, and overall financial statement presentation. The firm found no instances of noncompliance and provided positive remarks on the District’s internal control over fiscal reporting.

“Recruiting an external firm for auditing is a true testament towards the District’s transparency,” says Tom Coleman, RWD General Manager. “We aim to practice what we preach, and these findings assure our ratepayers that RWD’s finances are in their best interests.”

“The Board of Directors is thrilled to lead a District with such dedication towards its investments,” added Szu Pei Yu-Lang, RWD Board President.  The findings propel us forward to maintain our reputable standards within the community.”
